Spotlight: Founder Erica Harrison Arnold honored by Hampton University

As one of forty #YoungAlumnitoWatch, HarMcC Heritage LLC Founder Erica Harrison Arnold was honored by her alma mater, Hampton University as an inductee into the Forty Under 40 Alumni Recognition Society, Class of 2017. #40HU40. We are so proud of her!

The induction was held on Friday, October 20 on the Hampton's campus. Official photos from the event show the festivities and fellowship from the awesome afternoon.

Spotlight: Founder Erica Harrison Arnold graduates from GABWA's Judicial and Public Office Academy

Erica Harrison Arnold was among twelve participants selected state-wide by the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Judicial and Public Office Academy ("JPOA") for the cohort of 2017. JPOA is a competitive political training program aimed to educate practicing attorneys on identifying, supporting, and becoming candidates for public office. Members of the cohort participate in simulations, presentations, and speaker sessions to led by prestigious members of the state and local community, including federal, state, and local judges, district attorneys, legislative representatives and senators, and savvy campaign staffers.

Less Opportunity for Advanced Coursework in Schools Serving Black or Hispanic Students, High Free/Reduced-Price Lunch Populations

A recent blog post from the US Government Accountability Office presents data today on which courses are being offered by schools serving majority Black or Hispanic students and schools serving majority free/reduced-price lunch beneficiaries. Among other things, it shows that only 32% of charter schools serving “high-poverty and 75 to 100 percent Black or Hispanic” students are offering AP courses, during the 2011-2012 school year.
